GAF Gutter Replacement: The Houston Owner’s Guide
We install GAF-compatible gutter replacement across Houston, and a typical job runs $9 to $22 per linear foot installed, depending on the profile and how much fascia repair is hiding underneath. Most homes fall between $1,400 and $3,200 all-in for a full gutter run. You usually find out a gutter’s failed the hard way: water pouring over the edge during a Houston downpour, staining the brick, or pooling at the slab. Sometimes the gutter’s pulled loose from the fascia with a clean gap behind it. Either way, it’s not a part you can ignore for long in this climate.
Which GAF Models This Applies To
GAF doesn’t manufacture gutters under its own name, and we’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with GAF. What homeowners usually mean is that they have a GAF roofing system and want gutters that work with it without creating a new leak point at the eave. The compatibility question is less about a model number and more about the roof edge detail: GAF’s Timberline and Grand Sequoia shingle lines, along with the Camelot II, all overhang the drip edge the same way, and the gutter has to sit under that overhang correctly or water wicks back into the decking.
The real gotcha in Houston is gutter size. The standard 5-inch K-style gutter handles most of what a GAF roof sheds, but if you have a steep pitch or a long valley dumping into one corner, 6-inch is worth the upgrade. We measure the roof’s drainage area, not just the eave length, before we quote. That’s the difference between a gutter that handles a July gully-washer and one that spills over the front edge every time it rains hard.

Signs Your GAF Gutter Replacement Is Failing
- Water spilling over the front lip during rain. That’s almost always a pitch problem or a clog, but if it happens on a clean gutter, the run has sagged and the water can’t reach the downspout. Sagging means the hangers have pulled loose from the fascia, and tightening them usually isn’t enough once the metal’s bowed.
- Seam separation at the corners or end caps. Most Houston gutters are sectional, and the seams are the first thing to fail. You’ll see a steady drip from a corner even after the rain stops that’s a failed seal, and caulking it from the outside buys months, not years.
- Water stains on the fascia board directly behind the gutter. That tells you water’s running down the back side, which usually means the drip edge isn’t lapping into the gutter properly or the gutter’s pulled far enough off the fascia to leave a gap. Left alone, you’re replacing fascia next.
- Gutters pulling away from the roofline with visible fasteners. Houston’s humidity rots fascia boards from the inside out, and once the wood loses its grip, the screws or spikes follow. If you can see the heads, the board behind them is already soft.
- Rust streaks or pinhole leaks along the bottom of the run. That’s metal fatigue from standing water, which means the pitch was wrong from day one or the run has settled. Pinholes are a warning sign the whole section’s near the end of its life.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
| Item | Typical Range (Houston) |
|---|---|
| Standard 5″ K-style seamless gutter, installed | $9 – $14 per linear foot |
| 6″ K-style gutter (steep roof / large valley) | $12 – $18 per linear foot |
| Half-round gutter, installed | $18 – $22 per linear foot |
| Downspout replacement, per drop | $120 – $240 each |
| Fascia board repair (when rot is present) | $4 – $8 per linear foot |
The price goes on paper before any work starts. That number covers removal and haul-off of the old run, the new gutter material, hangers, downspouts, and the labor to hang it correctly with the right pitch. What moves the range is fascia condition: if the board behind the gutter is rotted from years of overflow or a bad drip-edge lap, that gets replaced before anything new goes up. We’ll tell you what we found when we put the old gutter on the ground, and the number doesn’t move at the door. Every replacement carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing, so if a seam opens or a hanger fails within the year, we come back and make it right at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself: look for standing water in the bottom of the run after a light rain, eyeball the pitch along the fascia, and check that the drip edge actually laps into the gutter instead of behind it. Nobody needs a license to look.
Replacing the gutters yourself is a different animal. It means working off a ladder at eave height, handling 20-foot sections of metal without crimping them, and fastening into fascia that may or may not be solid. The ladder work is the dangerous part, especially on a two-story Houston home where the ground’s soft after rain. What we see most from DIY gutter jobs is a bad pitch that leaves standing water, which turns into a mosquito nursery and rusts the metal out early. If the old gutters are already failing, the decking and fascia behind them usually need a professional eye anyway. Call (940) 461-8481 and we’ll put eyes on it.
FAQs
In the Houston climate, a properly pitched seamless gutter typically lasts 15 to 20 years before the metal thins or the seams fatigue. Cheaper sectional gutters with caulked seams usually fail in 8 to 12 years because the caulk breaks down under Houston’s heat and UV exposure long before the aluminum does. The downspouts tend to outlast the runs if they haven’t been hit by a mower.
Sometimes, yes. A single separated seam or a loose hanger is a repair job, and if the rest of the run still has good pitch and solid metal, we’ll say so instead of selling a replacement. The line for us is when three or more sections have issues, or a pitch problem means the whole run’s been holding water. At that point, patching is just paying twice. Call (940) 461-8481 for an honest read on which side of that line you’re on.
A standard single-story gutter replacement in Houston takes about half a day from removal to final wash-down. A two-story home or a job with fascia rot repair usually runs a full day. Your written quote includes the timeframe, and the technicians show up inside the window we give you, background-checked and in uniform.
We carry the common K-style profiles and colors on the truck, and the gutter is formed on-site to match the exact eave length, which eliminates seams entirely. That’s what “seamless” actually means in the trade. We also stock Guttermaxx and Rhino gutter guards for homes that want leaf protection, alongside the Owens Corning and CertainTeed roofing lines we install. If you need a half-round profile or a specialty color, we’ll source it and get it on the schedule without running the price up.
